Generally though it is a safe sport and as long as common sense is used there is no need to worry. You will receive full safety equipment including helmet, pads and special driving body suits, so you won't have to use your own clothes. A good idea since quad biking is about getting messy!
Once you have received the necessary instruction, you are 'good to go'. Handling an ATV vehicle for the first time is a real thrill and it is hard not be exited about going over a jump or through a puddle of really dirty mud!
Companies now offer Quad Bike driving as one day trips in selected location across the UK. There are many different packages to choose from, ranging from beginners to advance. If you are a beginner, you can start out with a two hour introductory course to familiarise yourself with the bike.
You will learn the basic manoeuvring on a flat course to begin, until you get the hang of it. When you are able to change gears and handle your vehicle, then it is time to learn how to power slide trough bends before trying your luck at the real off road driving, trough water and mud, over hills and on small dirt roads.
For the already experienced riders, there are also challenges to be had. Try a Honda 250ES five gear or the smaller sports tuned Sportrax 90. This extended quad bike safari takes you up steep slopes, across woodlands and through water pools at speeds up to 50 mph. Better be ready to get wet, but that is part of the experience, isn't it?
